As well as the permits for 'Esthwaite Water' and the waters belonging to the 'W & A.A.C' we now have two permits allowing 'Free Fishing' on 'Yew Tree Tarn, Nr Coniston'. One of the most accessible tarns - the road from Ambleside to Coniston goes right past it, with a small car park beside the tarn. The landowner, James Marshall, built a dam at the south end in the 1930's, and stocked the tarn with trout. Fishing for brown and rainbow trout is controlled by the Coniston and Torver Angling Association.

Two hotel permits for Esthwaite Water....All year Trout Fishing, seasonal coarse & pike angling
Two hotel permits for waters of 'Windermere and Ambleside Angling Association'
Two hotel permits for 'Yew Tree Tarn, Nr Coniston'....Fly only trout fishing
