In a quiet corner of Hawkshead, in the English Lake District, Cumbria, surrounded by majestic fells and forest, stands Ann Tysons Bed and Breakfast.

Our family run B&B business offers comfortable hotel style B&B accommodation in the centre of the historic Lakeland village of Hawkshead. We are open all year round, fully welcome children and are pet friendly.

Ann Tysons Guest House, an historic Grade 2* listed lakeland lodging cottage in Hawkshead, originally owned by 'Ann Tyson', childhood home to the poet William Wordsworth. It has been established as a bed & breakfast business in Hawkshead since 1990.

We offer a wide range of B&B accommodation, double / twin bedded rooms with en-suite facilities, family rooms, plus cosy en-suite room for the solo traveller.

For ease of access we are able to offer ground level bedrooms. This is ideal for those who find stairs a problem and also guests who wish to bring a dog. All rooms are en-suite with one exception, and this has private facilities. Colour TV and tea / coffee making facilities are in all rooms.

Central heating throughout and open fire in the dining room. One of our rooms in the B&B features a beautiful antique bed, purchased at auction in 1933 from the estate of the art critic / writer John Ruskin (1819 - 1900), whose 'Historic Home' "Brantwood" near Coniston is now open to the general public.

Evening entertainment can be found at the Inns / Hotels / Pubs in Hawkshead. All have oak beams and open fires and are located within Hawkshead village.

They all offer restaurant style dining, a selection of good bar meals, fine wines and beers brewed by the local award winning micro-breweries of 'Coniston Brewing Co.' Coniston, The Barngates Brewery at 'The Drunken Duck' and 'Hawkshead Brewery' at nearby Colthouse whose first beers went on sale just in time for the influx of summer visitors.

Parking whilst staying at Ann Tysons Bed and Breakfast in Hawkshead is covered by free permit. Issued on arrival, the permit covers parking on the 'Main Pay and Display Car Park' for the duration of your stay.

For the convenience of visitors to the B&B we now accept all major credit / debit cards, travellers cheques in pounds sterling, personal cheques and cash.

Hawkshead lies betwixt the Lakeland villages of Coniston, Ambleside and Bowness-on-Windermere. Within easy reach of Ann Tysons Bed & Breakfast (Hawkshead) are the honeypot towns of Coniston, Windermere,, Grasmere, Kendal, Kirkby Lonsdale and Keswick plus the many attractions, historic houses, castles and gardens.

mountains and hills which give the area its outstanding beauty to the countless activities, interesting & unique shops and visitor attractions suitable for all the family.

For the energetic there are the Lake District fells, footpaths and lakes to explore with walks available for all ages and abilities.

* If you prefer a more leisurely day out why not visit the many museums and historic houses such as Levens Hall near Kendal and Wordsworth's Dove Cottage in Grasmere. If you want to just sit back and enjoy the scenery, you could take a leisurely cruise on Coniston Water or Windermere Lake and just watch the world go by.

Anglers keen to cast a line whilst on holiday / vacation in the Lake District will be delighted that Ann Tysons House (B&B) are now offering full use of the 'hotel permits', issued to us by 'Esthwaite Water trout and winter pike fishery' and the 'Windermere and Ambleside District Angling Association'. The permits entitle bed and breakfast residents free 'catch and release' shore / bank fishing amidst some of the most stunning and dramatic scenery in the Lake District National park. Boat and rod hire can be arranged at 'The Hawkshead Trout Farm'. They also offer fly fishing tuition for both the expert or beginner.
